Our elk herds are estimated to be 25 to 30 percent bulls by the Montana Department of Fish & Wildlife. This makes for some pretty stiff competition for the herd bulls to keep their cows. It is common to hear 4 or 5 bulls bugle in a small area competing for cows. We pride ourselves in being able to "call" and "work" a bull in close for our clients. J and J Guide Service

We are second generation outfitters with two camps in operation in central and southeastern Montana to ensure our hunters the finest hunting that Montana has to offer. We lease the exclusive hunting rights on several private ranches as well as being the only permitted outfitter on about 60,000 acres of National Forest. Over the last few years we are very proud that our hunters have received several Montana Outfitters and Guides Association/SCI awards.

Bitterroot Outfitters

Our U.S. Forest Service Special use Permit allows us to camp and hunt in over 100 Square miles of Wilderness for elk. The Bulls in this beautiful rugged country are not as educated to bugling as in many other areas. This Wilderness area offers outstanding opportunities for taking a trophy class bull elk. There is little to no hunting pressure on game in this area. We also offer a winter range elk hunt which involves spot and stalk hunting techniques.

We offer wilderness elk hunts as well as ranch hunts. Our wilderness camps are located in some of the most pristine country in the world. The Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness is massive, with an unbelievable amount of perfect elk habitat.
